OpenReel Video
Free, open-source CapCut alternative: a multitrack video editor that runs in your browser or on desktop, with no watermark.
About OpenReel Video
OpenReel Video is a free, open-source video editor for the browser and desktop. It has a multitrack timeline with trim, split, ripple delete, speed changes, transitions and keyframe animation, plus captions with SRT import and animated titles, an audio mixer with waveforms, EQ, compression and ducking, and color tools with wheels, curves, HSL and LUTs, masks and chroma key. Editing and rendering happen on your device, so media is never uploaded, and exports up to 4K carry no watermark. Landscape, portrait and square presets make it easy to cut clips for social platforms. An optional AI editor can make reversible timeline edits using your own OpenAI, Anthropic or compatible API key. Use it instantly at openreel.video with no install, or download the desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux (currently alpha) for native FFmpeg export including ProRes and alpha. MIT licensed. Desktop apps are in alpha and builds are currently unsigned, so expect Gatekeeper/SmartScreen warnings. The hosted web editor uses PostHog analytics. AI features are optional and need your own API key (provider costs apply).
