About Amanu

Amanu is a free, open-source meeting recorder for macOS and Windows. It notices when a call app such as Zoom, Google Meet, Telegram or WhatsApp is using the microphone, starts and stops recording on its own, and never sends a bot into the meeting. It produces a speaker-attributed transcript, puts names to voices, and writes a summary with topics, decisions and action items. Transcription can run fully locally (Parakeet, Whisper, GigaAM; local on macOS needs Apple Silicon) and summaries can use a local Ollama model, or you can plug in your own cloud keys or subscriptions (OpenAI, Anthropic, AssemblyAI, ElevenLabs, Claude Code, Codex). Each meeting is kept as ordinary files in its own folder on your computer; there is no Amanu account and no hosted library. Requires macOS 14.2+ or Windows 11 24H2+ (x64). The macOS build is Developer ID signed and notarized and the Windows build is signed. Cloud models are optional and use your own API keys; Intel Macs need a cloud model with your own API key. Anonymous usage analytics are on by default and can be turned off. MIT licensed.
