Sayso
Free, open-source dictation for Mac, Windows and Linux: press a key, speak, and the text lands in any app. Runs locally.
About Sayso
Sayso is a dictation app: press a hotkey (Option+Space on a Mac), speak, and the text is typed into whatever app you are using. Speech recognition runs locally on your computer with downloadable models such as Parakeet and Whisper, so nothing leaves the machine unless you choose a cloud model or an AI style with your own API key. Optional AI styles remove filler words or format the text as an email, message or notes, and can switch automatically per app or website. It also has a custom dictionary with replacements, a searchable history, a live preview overlay and a plain config.toml file. No telemetry and no account. The price model is "Free. Pay what you want", and $0 is a valid answer: there is no license key, no trial and no paid tier, so every build is the full app. GPL-3.0. Version 0.10.1 (October 19, 2026). macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon (signed and notarized), Windows 10/11 x64 (installer not code-signed), and Linux as deb, rpm, AppImage or Flatpak.
