Talkify
Free, open-source on-device voice dictation for macOS that lives in the notch: hold fn, speak, and the text is typed.
About Talkify
Talkify is a free, open-source dictation app for macOS. Hold the fn key, speak and release, and the text is inserted into whatever app you're using, with a live draft shown in the MacBook notch. Everything runs on-device with Apple's own speech recognition, translation and Foundation Models for prompt shaping, so there is no API key, no account and no telemetry, and no audio is stored. The app checks GitHub for updates. It also includes Read Aloud for selected text, drag-and-drop file transcription, custom shortcuts and sounds, and a local Insights view with words per day and speaking pace. Requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) on Apple Silicon. Install with Homebrew or download the DMG from GitHub releases. MIT licensed.
