Image editing / migration checklist

Move your image editing workflow from Photoshop

Test layered documents, fonts and exports before moving your editing workflow to another application.

← All migration guides

Opening an image and preserving an editable document are different requirements. Start with the files and features that matter to your work, then test a candidate on copies. Support for a file extension does not imply complete support for every feature inside that file.

What to verify before switching

  • Layers, adjustment effects, smart objects, text, color profiles and plugins can behave differently across applications.
  • Flattened exports preserve a visual reference but do not preserve all editing flexibility. Keep native project files as well.
  • Confirm that you have the rights and installers needed for fonts, brushes and other assets you plan to reuse.

Your goal: Tested working copies, visual reference exports and a clear record of unsupported editing features.

Loading your checklist…

1. Identify the features you actually need

2. Preserve editable originals and reference images

3. Check more than whether the file opens

4. Build a working replacement workflow

Checklist progress stays in this browser tab’s session. It is not sent to a server.

General planning guidance. Import support, export options and subscription access depend on the current versions and plans of the apps involved. No migration or compatibility testing is implied.
